In our local area, we are very fortunate to have a charity such as CancerCare who understand that each person, and their experience of this diagnosis is entirely unique to them.
CancerCare are a local cancer and bereavement charity, which mainly cover Lancaster, Barrow, Kendal and Morecambe, ensuring that help is never too far away from those that need it.
The invaluable support CancerCare provides extends not just to the patient themselves, but also those that love them, of all ages, in order to navigate through a testing time with the professional help, emotional support and collective strength to face whatever’s next.
CancerCare has decades of experience helping people turn the initial shock of the diagnosis, into a positive action plan, which has helped countless people discover their vigour for life when times are tough. If matters unfortunately take a turn for the worst, CancerCare are readily available to help loved ones process the bereavement and grief.
They offer this support in a range of ways; counselling, therapy, group sessions or sometimes just a friendly chat, if that’s all that’s needed, to provide moral support.
Clients of CancerCare receive all this support free of charge. Over the last 12 months, CancerCare has helped 1,958 people. They have delivered 18,685 hours of invaluable therapy over the same time period to help people maintain the mental strength and physical well-being needed to overcome this difficult time.
More than 90% of CancerCare’s work is funded by people like you who donate, fundraise or give a gift in their Will.
In recognition of Cancer Care’s ability to support people diagnosed with cancer along with their friends and family we will hike 14km in The Lake District to raise awareness and as much funds to support them as we can.
